MHEG Inc. – MHTKD Child Care is seeking reliable and caring 7D Drivers to provide safe student transportation for our child care programs in Holyoke, Massachusetts.
As a 7D Driver, you'll play an important role in helping children travel safely between home, school, and our programs. We're looking for someone who is dependable, patient, safety-conscious, and enjoys making a positive difference in children's daily routines.
Already have a 7D certificate? Great! Don't have one yet? We may be able to help you get certified.
What You'll Do
- Safely transport students between schools, homes, child care centers, and other authorized destinations.
- Follow assigned routes and maintain reliable pickup and drop-off schedules.
- Ensure student safety and appropriate behavior throughout transportation.
- Assist children with safely entering and exiting the vehicle.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Keep assigned vehicles clean and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate transportation records, including mileage and passenger counts as required.
- Communicate professionally with parents, staff, and the Transportation Coordinator.
- Follow Massachusetts 7D transportation regulations and company safety procedures.
- Attend required safety meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid Massachusetts driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Valid Massachusetts 7D School Pupil Transport Certificate, or willingness to obtain one before employment.
- Previous driving or child care experience preferred.
- Must successfully complete all applicable background checks, including the Massachusetts EEC Background Record Check (BRC).
- Must meet all applicable Massachusetts 7D driver qualifications and licensing requirements.
- Strong communication skills and a positive, professional attitude.
- Patience and the ability to work effectively with children of different ages and needs.
- Dependability, punctuality, and a strong commitment to student safety.
- Availability for morning and afternoon transportation shifts.
7D Licensing Assistance
Applicants who do not currently hold a Massachusetts 7D School Pupil Transport Certificate are welcome to apply.
The company may assist qualified candidates with the licensing process after completion of the 7D Driver Training Agreement.
Candidates must obtain the required certification as soon as possible and before receiving an official job offer for the driver position.
Schedule
- Part-time, Monday through Friday.
- Morning and afternoon transportation shifts (split schedule).
- Hours may vary depending on assigned routes, school schedules, and program needs.
- Additional hours may be available during school vacations and summer programs.
Pay & Benefits
$19.00–$21.00 per hour, based on certification, relevant experience, and qualifications.
